Union County Babe Ruth League sponsors Babe Ruth baseball for athletic associations in and around Union County, North Carolina. Participating associations and the schools they represent are:

Porter Ridge Athletic Association: Porter Ridge Middle and Porter Ridge High
WCWAA: Weddington Middle and Weddington High, Marvin Ridge Middle and Marvin Ridge High, Cuthbertson Middle and Cuthbertson High
Parkwood: Parkwood Middle and Parkwood High
ITAA: Sun Valley Middle and Sun Valley High

Congratulations to the Weddington 14-15 yr old Babe Ruth Baseball Teams and the Piedmont 13 yr old Team for being the 2012 Regular season Champions!
The 13 yr old Division had Piedmont and Parkwood coming out on top of the League with a record of 9-3. Both Lane Baucom and Paul Ryan along with Jonathan Starnes coached the 13 all star team to a State Championship in Hendersonville, NC. This team will represent our county in the Southeast Regional at Hickory NC starting this weekend July 28th. Our 13 yr old County All star teams have won the State championship for the last 6 years. Youth baseball is alive and well in Union County.

In our 14-15 Divisions we had the Weddington Orioles with a record of 11-1 winning the American Division. Also, the Weddington Red Sox and Weddington Cardinals represented Weddington Optimist with winning records. Great for Weddington to field three exciting teams in the 13 yr old division. But Weddington isn't the only association that plays hard nose baseball during the summer months. Parkwood and Piedmont represents our county year after year with programs that are second to none. Even though Weddington had a 11-1 record, Piedmont and Parkwood was close behind with 10-2 and 9-3 records.
Weddington also formed four teams in the 14-15 Union County League. The Orioles, the Rangers, Rays and Braves. A powerful group of young men with outstanding talent and attitudes. Each of the four Weddington teams had players picked to be on the County 2012 All Star Teams. Union County National and American teams represented the county well at the State Tournament in Matthews NC.
Let's not forget our 16-18 program within the county. Weddington, Parkwood and Piedmont all competed weekly with the Queen City League in Charlotte.Union County 16-18 all star team came in second in the State Tournament and represented us in Alabama for the Southeast Regional. This was the first year that we had three teams in this division. Let's push hard to have more teams next year.
It was a great and exciting opportunity for the youth in Union County and for the Babe Ruth organization.
